Summer lets the island of Mainau shine in the most beautiful colors.
In addition to hydrangeas, which are in full bloom on the roof garden, daylilies, montbretias and coneflowers in the perennial garden impress with their unique variety of flowers.
Take a break under the shady giants in the arboretum or in the cool, shady spots in the Italian rose garden, listen to the chirping of the birds and enjoy the gentle breeze of Lake Constance in the lakeside garden.

The frangipani or temple trees(Plumeria alba) provide a pure South Sea feeling with their appearance and fragrance on the Mediterranean terraces. These tropical beauties love the sun, as it intensifies the aromatic scent of the colorful flowers.
The African ornamental lilies are usually exhibited in the fountain arena. With its elegant balls of flowers, the popular potted plant, which bears the botanical name Agapanthus, is a real enrichment on the summery island of Mainau.
In the dahlia garden and in the beer garden at the harbor, the silk acacias bear their pink brush flowers. The botanical name of the mimosa plant also refers to the current flowering season: Albizia julibrissin. The play of light from the summer sun on the delicate flowers is particularly beautiful to watch.
On the island of Mainau, a colorful spectacle unfolds in summer: the artistically designed alternating flower beds, combined with exotic solitary plants, create a unique work of art.
Verbenabonariensis impresses with its delicate appearance. Nevertheless, this plant is very robust and delights us for weeks with its lilac-colored flowers.
The colloquial nickname "duck's beak" is due to the curved shape of the flowers of the field plant(Lysimachia clethroides). Combined with red daylilies(Hemerocallis), it creates a colorful contrast in the perennial bed.
The California tree poppy(Romneya coulturi) blooms in the perennial garden. This deciduous perennial is a popular bee pasture and prefers a sunny, warm location. Its white, cupped flowers grow to an average size of at least 10 centimetres.
The palm lily or garden yucca(Yucca filamentosa) with its creamy white flower bells unfolds its full beauty on the summer island in July. The agave plant can be seen on the roof garden and in front of the butterfly house.
